Ok I've been wanting to come check this spot out because of the fun name, but I've never been to a dim sum place without someone who knows the ins and outs of all the different foods, but I figured if we go with a few people we'll at least get a few things right. My fears were quickly alleviated when we walked in, and the young man with glasses and a goatee that took our order was very helpful and patient with us, explained what is in which item and made recommendations. I wish I would have asked his name to give him a proper shout out. Once the order is placed at the counter, you will have to wait for a table to open up to be seated, this place was packed on a Saturday afternoon, and I can see why! This is a pretty great idea so you get your food quickly, wish more restaurants did the same. The inside is kind of small, but the tables are nicely organized to fit as many as possible, I would say there's probably about ten tables, some seating 6 comfortably. Once we were seated it took about 10 minutes for our order to come and the staff was great, bringing out dishes and checking in on is constantly. I think my fiancee might have found a new kind of food to put on our list for date nights. Everything we got tasted great, I couldn't tell you the names, but shrimp fried rice was cooked perfectly and had a nice light flavor, the soup dumplings were perfectly soupy. We had some other ones filled with shrimp and shrimp and pork, short ribs, etc. I will definitely be returning here, I'm already craving it again just typing this review. Go check out this spot, you won't regret it!
A small and busy dim sum restaurant in a very crowded plaza with a numerous amount of popular food and dessert options. It seemed to be busy with a constant queue, so we ordered take-out on the kiosk, very convenient. Each dim sum dish was about ~$5. - shumai: 8.0/10. yummy! a dim sum staple and must. The shumai is juicy, slightly sweet, and salty with chunks of shrimp. - shrimp and chive dumplings: 7.2/10. This was surprisingly tastier than I expected as I dislike chives. The chives were not too strong and the dumpling was packed with shrimp. I enjoyed how thing the dumpling wrapper was. - salted egg lava bun: 7.9/10. My favorite dim sum dessert item!!! The lava bun filling was delicious and oozed out of the bun. There was a generous amount of filling. The only thing I would change about this is making the filling thicker so that it doesn't spill so much. Very messy to eat bc the filling flows out like water.
You want clean, flavorful, good quality dim sum? This is the spot. My go to dim sum, I'm here every Saturday either eating here or getting to go. I don't really enjoy eating at other dim sum restaurants because I have to wave down the cart ladies or they aren't as clean. This is why I love all that dim sum. You can order everything you want before being seated. The size of the dumplings are generous, you don't really need any sauce to dip anything in because it is already so flavorful. I always get their chili oil too because the flavors are spot on. My go to order is - shu mai - har gow - baked or steamed bbq pork buns - beef chow fun - egg tarts I always fight for the last egg tart because they are the most buttery, flakey, perfectly sweet dessert. I could it 10 of those in a sitting.
I loved the idea of ordering first and then getting seated because all of the food relatively comes out at once! Dim sum was very good. Took friends who are new to the dim sum game and glad that trying this place did not disappoint.
I thought it was ok... average quality, but fast. We didn't wait that long even though it was a Saturday.. maybe like 5 minutes? It's very casual. You order at the front and then wait for a table. They call you when they have a table ready and your food comes out shortly after. I actually really liked the turnip cake. It was fresh and gooey, which is the perfect consistency in my opinion. It would have been better with some egg and green onion on top. Everything else tasted relatively fine, but the hargow skin was a bit thick and cakey for me.
